How does it work?

Our program works in two effective phases which utilize powerful weight loss tools, group classes, and our full support.  We operate a full staff of expert medical providers, nutritionists, exercise consultants, and behaviorists.
Together, the two phases are effective ways to reach your health goals, increase your quality of life, and reduce risks for countless health hazards.

Phase I: Weight Loss

The first phase is focused on weight loss achieved through education, action, and support. Initially, we will determine which New Direction® program fits your goals and needs, then utilize it to jump-start weight loss. Depending on your individual needs, a Very Low Calorie Diet (VLCD) or a Low Calorie Diet (LCD) will be assigned. These diets utilize New Direction® products that are low calorie, high protein, and low carbohydrate. Ongoing real-world education about how food and exercise affect our health reinforces and prepares you for the second phase.

Phase II: Sustainability Skills

After desired weight-loss has been reached, the second phase begins. Conventional food is reintroduced into your diet, and you will begin the process of actively applying information learned in class. Education and accountability are emphasized so that you will develop invaluable skills—skills which will allow weight maintenance and prevent of reversion into food pitfalls. Small groups meet weekly under the guidance of a behavioral educator. With help from instructions and classmates, you will continue to:

  • achieve nutrition goals within calorie goals
  • control portion sizes and get healthy cooking at home
  • shop sensibly for food and order in restaurants
  • recognize and deal with emotional eating
  • build and maintain an active lifestyle
  • incorporate time for yourself every day

We know you can succeed, and we want that success to start today! E-mail Andrea (click for email) to begin!

What will it cost me?

The cost of your individual program varies based on which New Direction® Low Calorie program you will need to participate in.  We recommend attending one of our information sessions so that we may fully explain the costs to you. There is absolutely no obligation when attending this meeting.  If you are unable to attend a meeting please contact Andrea Fuller, RN, FNP-BC for more information.

In comparing the programs set forth by The Wellness Alliance to other popular meal replacement alternatives you will find that we are often less expensive than and more effective than any other programs.  This is astonishing when you consider that:

  • We’re the only major meal-provided program that is medically supervised
  • We have the highest percentage of clients who reach their target weights
  • Our clients benefit from the fastest rate of weight loss (3-5 lbs per week)
  • We have 5 times better long term results
  • We provide more intensive behavioral support and training

Best of all, clients who follow the program eliminate a major portion of their grocery, restaurant, and food bills during the program, and subtracting those daily expenses from the cost of the program will make The Wellness Alliance program even more affordable.   You may even save money!

According to Forbes.com*, the average family spends over $150 a week on groceries alone, and even more when dining out. In an investigation of the 5 most popular food supplement diets, Forbes found that the cost of dieting in America is increasingly substantial: for example, the Martha’s Vineyard Diet Detox and Weight Watchers diet sustain a cost of $385.00 per week throughout the diet! But the daily supplements in our program on average cost less than one fast food meal per day.
The truth is that most other weight loss options cost more than money.  Most diets require dieters to buy into a “miracle” method that requires the dieter to eat a very restricted, nutritionally unbalanced diet—once the dieter has lost some weight and returns to a regular food plan, he or she often usually gains back the weight lost—these fad diets are nothing short of starvation and lead to an unhealthy, miserable cycle of losing and gaining.

At The Wellness Alliance, we free clients from the diet cycle. Here we know that to successfully lose weight, the process has to be a realistic and attainable from start to finish.

Is the program covered by insurance?

Some insurance plans may settle the costs associated with a weight loss initiative, but many do not.  Please contact your insurance company to inquire about your insurance options and benefits.  We are happy to be of assistance in providing labs, statements or other documentation to your insurance company.  The good news is that regardless of how your insurance company handles weight loss, if you have a health savings account (HSA) or health reimbursement account (HRA) or a cafeteria plan, you can use these to cover the costs of your weight loss plan.
